Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago is a premier pediatric healthcare institution known for its innovative treatments and compassionate care. In 2021, they approached me to design their monthly magazine covers. My task was to create engaging visuals that reflected their mission and resonated with both young patients and their families.
Round 1:
In 2021, Lurie Children's Hospital approached me to assist in designing their monthly magazine cover. They sought a fresh and engaging visual style that would capture the essence of their mission and appeal to both their young patients and their families. My role was to create captivating and informative covers that reflected the hospital's dedication to healthcare excellence and community engagement.
Initially, we delved into the creative process by exploring imagery that featured a doctor engrossed in typing on his laptop and a child using a health monitor to check their arm. However, after the initial rounds of brainstorming, I proposed a strategic pivot, emphasizing the significance of honing the messaging aspect rather than solely relying on visuals. This sparked in-depth discussions within the team, leading to a decisive shift in direction. As a result, we advanced in a redefined direction that intricately aligned with our overarching messaging and mission.
Final:
Despite the short timelines and high expectations, I collaborated closely with their team to create engaging visuals that reflected their mission and resonated with both young patients and their families. The process involved intensive brainstorming sessions, rapid iterations, and meticulous attention to detail to ensure each cover was both informative and visually appealing.
We meticulously crafted a sophisticated cover design, showcasing their vibrant primary blue color as the central element. Through the strategic use of straightforward icons and engaging photography, we aimed to vividly depict the seamless functionality of the health monitor for both patients and doctors. Our carefully chosen motto, "Help us, help you," perfectly resonates with the overall message conveyed by the imagery, fostering a deeper connection with the audience.mage aligns well with the message.
